This group of female green turtles are a few of the thousands waiting for nightfall to go ashore on Raine Island to lay their eggs. The turtles are beautiful and the water is clear but this image represents the fragility of these ancient beings. Raine Island is the biggest and most important green turtle nursery in the world but this tiny island is drowning and heating as the climate warms.
