Proserpine Rock Wallaby Festival

8 May 2025

Fun Filled Festival Dedicated to the Awareness of the Proserpine Rock Wallaby from a Creative Perspective

Update: January 2026 — We were thrilled to learn that the Proserpine Rock Wallaby Festival 2025 was awarded Community Event of the Year at the 2026 Australia Day Awards. It was a wonderful recognition of the incredible effort, creativity, and community spirit that so many people poured into the festival.

Update: August 2025 — Moving forward, the future of the Proserpine Rock Wallaby Festival has been placed in the hands of 2025 Patron Leigh Skead, who is establishing a dedicated Festival Committee. Creative Connections Whitsunday (CCW) will not be involved in the overall organisation or delivery of future festivals. We remain supportive of the event and are open to contributing to the creative elements where appropriate — including exhibitions, artist engagement, and arts-based activities — but responsibility for planning and delivery now sits with the new committee.

The 2025 Proserpine Rock Wallaby Festival was a vibrant celebration of art, community, and local culture — and what a success it was! The Proserpine Entertainment Centre came alive with a stunning exhibition featuring local talent, while the town itself became a playful trail of discovery thanks to the 3D Rock Wallaby Treasure Hunt. These cheeky sculptures, lovingly painted by local artists, sparked joy for kids and adults alike and brought a fresh buzz to local businesses.

This festival was only possible because of the extraordinary support of our community. We extend our sincere thanks to our 47 generous sponsors — including Whitsunday Regional Council, Wilmar, Bendigo Bank, Tassal, FRRR, and Croc Safari — whose financial and in-kind contributions helped bring the event to life. We are deeply grateful to the many volunteers who gave their time, the artists who shared their creativity, local organisations and businesses who embraced the vision, and everyone who worked behind the scenes with generosity and goodwill. It truly was a collective effort, and the spirit of collaboration is what made the festival so memorable.

As the festival moves into its next chapter under new leadership, we celebrate what has been achieved and look forward to seeing it continue to grow with strong community support.
