The Story
CCW Gallery - Proserpine

“How we're building a home for creativity, connection, and community.”
Something pretty special is happening in Proserpine.

Creative Connections Whitsunday has been given the chance to turn the old Information Centre into a community art gallery and creative hub. Thanks to the generous support of Whitsunday Regional Council, this building, once a place where visitors came to learn about the region, is now set to become a space where our community can come together to create, share, and celebrate local art and culture.

The creative hub will be a place for exhibitions, workshops, and casual catch-ups; somewhere people can learn, share, and enjoy art in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

This page will follow our journey — from early planning to final fit-out. We'll share key milestones, updates, photos, and stories along the way as we turn this dream into reality. Thank you for being part of the journey.
Due Diligence
Update - April 2024
Creative Connections Whitsunday is currently undertaking a thorough due diligence analysis of the Old Information Centre, situated adjacent to the Proserpine Historical Museum, with the vision of transforming it into a community gallery and artists' hub for the Whitsunday region.
Discussions with the Whitsunday Regional Council have already begun and we will be drafting a detailed proposal in the coming weeks. However, the success of this project hinges on your support and involvement. We're calling on local artists to express their interest in this endeavour. It is expected that the gallery will need to be manned and operated by the artists who participate.
By filling out the expression of interest form, you'll ensure you're kept in the loop with all the latest updates and progress.

Lease has been Signed
Update - 18 March 2025
We’re thrilled to announce that Creative Connections has secured the old Tourist Information Centre to transform into a Community Art Gallery. The lease on the building was signed last week and now Council restorations can commence. CCW will also be applying for a grant to close in the veranda and extend the usefulness of the space. Still a long way to go before we can move in but it will be a great space. Louise has been collecting ideas for artworks along the highway to direct traffic to the gallery. We can't wait to see how these turn out as well.

Gallery Update
Update - June 2025
Exciting progress is happening behind the scenes as we prepare for the launch of the Creative Connections Gallery in Proserpine. A dedicated committee has now been formed to shape a clear vision for the gallery's future. The executive committee is progressing with fundraising for building renovations through various means.
We’re currently awaiting the completion of essential "make safe" repairs by Council before we can officially take possession of the building. In the meantime, there's a lot of work underway in the background – from preparing grant applications and planning community fundraising efforts, to reviewing the governance structure and securing the resources needed to bring the gallery to life.
We’ll continue to keep you updated as things progress – thank you for your support and enthusiasm!
