Pulse, the heartbeat of our Community

Pulse invites artists to explore the living rhythm that runs through Proserpine — the people, the land, the stories, the creatures, and the moments that give our community its unmistakable heartbeat.

This theme is vibrant and energetic by nature. It speaks of movement, rhythm, and vitality: the ebb and flow of daily life, the buzz of creativity, the rise and fall of seasons, and the steady thrum of connection that holds us together. Artists may choose to express pulse in a literal sense — beats, patterns, motion, sound — or approach it metaphorically through emotion, memory, culture, or identity.

The “pulse of Proserpine” might be found in its history, its changing landscapes, its wildlife (including our iconic rock wallabies), its music and gatherings, or the colourful lives of people who call this place home. It may be bold and electric, or quiet and steady, like the subtle rhythms that shape rural life.

For those who feel drawn to deeper layers, Pulse also carries a spiritual dimension: the divine breath that sustains all creation, the unseen currents of life, love, and purpose that move through every living thing.

This theme is intentionally broad, welcoming all mediums and approaches. Whether your work is abstract, representational, symbolic, or narrative, we encourage you to explore what “pulse” means to you — and how you sense it within our community, our land, and your own creative journey.

All Artists in the Whitsunday and Mackay Regions are invited to participate.
