I attempted to interpret a perfect day; I could feel the balmy breezeās energy upon my skin. The big white gums on the island were in sharp contrast to the ever present and pervasive blue of the Great Barrier Reef.
Part of my practice is my joy of going into the natural environment and drawing/ painting plein air. I enjoy the immediacy of my first impressions, and I like to respond to the energy and feelings that a place gives off. I explore my surrounds first and use something from the environment, e.g. a stick. I work with these natural tools and accept the idiosyncrasies that the implement makes in my mixed-media pieces. I always think that these tools transpire my work.
