Just like the people who sail on these boats, the medium is dishevelled and mixed. An acrylic base detailed with oils and glow-in-the-dark blue resin below the waterline captures the inky phosphorescent stillness that can occur at night. With the wind under 2 knots, the fishermen celebrate while the sailors trade in a winch handle for a cold, refreshing beverage until the wind picks up. My piece reflects not only yachts but also the community of cruising boats that have been part of my life over the last 15 years in the Whitsundays. If these boats could talk, they'd have many stories to tell. We are all friends; we are all family! Let this picture take you there.
