Powering Creativity: An $18,500 Gift to Our Community Gallery

A generous $18,500 solar system donation from Green Energy Technologies is helping power a more sustainable future for the Proserpine Community Art Gallery.

When Creative Connections Whitsunday (CCW) took over the Gallery building from Whitsunday Regional Council, we knew the existing solar panel system was several years old and may not have been operating at full capacity. The building had sustained damage during Cyclone Debbie and had remained unoccupied for several years.

The CCW Committee reached out to local solar specialists Green Energy Technologies in Cannonvale to assess the system. Director Matt Connors generously offered to conduct a full audit at no cost to CCW.

The results weren't quite what we'd hoped for.

Of the eight existing solar panels, only one was working, and at just 10 per cent capacity. For a not-for-profit organisation that had carefully budgeted on keeping the Gallery's ongoing electricity costs to a minimum, it was a significant setback.

We contacted Green Energy Technologies again to ask whether they knew of any grants or funding opportunities that might help a community organisation like ours replace the system.

What happened next completely surprised us.

Matt contacted us to say Green Energy Technologies would donate and install an entirely new solar panel system for the Gallery, valued at $18,500.

Within a remarkably short time, the new system was installed and operating. The installation team was efficient, helpful and incredibly easy to work with, even taking the time to show us how to use the monitoring app so we can track the system's performance.

And we're already seeing the difference.

The reduction in our electricity costs is significant. As a volunteer-run not-for-profit, every dollar we save on operating expenses can be redirected into sustaining the Gallery and supporting exhibitions, workshops and creative opportunities for our local community.

When we thanked Matt for Green Energy Technologies' extraordinary generosity, his response was simple. Supporting the local community is something the business genuinely believes in.

It's a contribution that will benefit Creative Connections Whitsunday and the Community Art Gallery in Proserpine for many years to come, and we are incredibly grateful to Matt and the entire Green Energy Technologies team for getting behind our vision.
