What: Community Creative Space When: Monday to Friday, 9:30am–4:00pm (closed 1:00pm–2:00pm for lunch) Where: Bendigo Community Bank branch, Whitsunday Plaza, Cannonvale
A new Community Creative Space has launched at the Bendigo Community Bank Cannonvale–Proserpine Branch, bringing local art into everyday community life and making creativity more accessible across the Whitsundays.
This initiative, delivered in partnership with Creative Connections Whitsundays, features a rotating exhibition of works by CCW members, showcasing both emerging and established local artists. The space provides an opportunity for artists to share, exhibit, and sell their work in a welcoming, high-traffic community setting.
Each artwork is available for purchase through a simple self-serve process, allowing visitors to take their time, enjoy the display, and directly support local artists.
The inaugural exhibiting artist is Desma Munro (pictured below), featuring works that reflect the beauty of Australia’s landscapes and wildlife. Desma creates expressive realist paintings that capture the colour, character, and spirit of our beautiful country and our colourful birdlife.
CCW President Glenda Brown said the initiative strengthens opportunities for local artists while embedding creativity into everyday community spaces:
“We’re grateful to Bendigo Bank Cannonvale–Proserpine Branch and our community for supporting local artists and helping creativity thrive in our region.”
The Community Creative Space is free to visit and open during branch hours.
This initiative forms part of CCW’s broader commitment to increasing visibility for local artists and strengthening access to arts and culture across the Whitsundays.
Businesses and organisations interested in hosting a CCW Community Creative Space within their premises are invited to contact Creative Connections Whitsundays at exhibitions@creativeconnectionswhitsunday.com to discuss partnership opportunities and support local artists.
