Join French Australian print artist Nathalie Hartog for a workshop and demonstration in Hydeaway Bay

Hosted by Whitsundays Art Festival & TARTS

The Whitsundays Arts Festival in partnership with Artist Run Initiative ARI Whitsundays, a member of the international organisation and worldwide network of artist residencies Res Artis, is excited to welcome the talented French Australian artist, Nathalie Hartog, as this year's ARI Whitsundays resident artist. Nathalie Hartog will be spending two weeks at Cape Gloucester and Hydeaway Bay. The public is invited to register for a three-hour workshop and presentation with Nathalie on Wednesday 8 November in the Hydeaway Bay Community Hall at the Gloucester Sport and Recreation Association (GSRA) from 9am to 12pm. The cost is $3 for GSRA members and $5 for non-members. Please register here as places are limited. Nathalie is known for creating exquisite series of works on handmade paper with inks, often revolving around themes related to the environment. She has exhibited her work in regional galleries in Australia after completing previous residencies. Her art beautifully captures the essence of Australia’s natural surroundings, making her the perfect fit for our stunning Whitsundays landscape. The community workshop on 8 November is being co-hosted with TARTS (Textile Arts) an active arts group in Hydeaway Bay. At this community event Nathalie will be in conversation with ARI founder Mary Ann Santin to talk about her creative process, share images of her works, and then lead the hands-on component of the workshop. Nathalie uses natural materials to create her own paper and inks and then uses found utensils for applying ink that she forages in the natural environment. We look forward to hearing about her discoveries in our environment. Please register here for the workshop as numbers are limited. We will then be in touch with more information about the event. The Whitsundays Arts Festival is committed to facilitating cultural opportunities for our region and is thrilled to support ARI Whitsundays in bringing Nathalie to our local community. Many thanks to the Whitsundays Regional Council RADF program for their support.
