From Cane Fields to Coral Reefs: The Whitsundays Through the Eyes of Local Artists

A new exhibition celebrating the landscapes and character of the Whitsundays is now on display at the Bendigo Community Bank Cannonvale–Proserpine Community Creative Space at Whitsunday Plaza.
From Cane Fields to Coral Reefs: The Whitsundays Through the Eyes of Local Artists brings together new work by six acclaimed local artists, offering different perspectives on the region and the places that inspire them.
Among the featured artists is Lenny Pennell, winner of the 2026 Bendigo Community Bank People’s Choice Award. Lenny’s colourful reef-inspired work, Whispers Beneath the Whitsundays, is part of the exhibition, bringing the colours and energy of the Whitsundays’ marine environment into the Community Creative Space.

The exhibition also features Linda Forrester, winner of the 2024 Bendigo Community Bank People’s Choice Award. Her painting, Border Island, captures the distinctive landscape and glistening afternoon light of the Whitsundays, bringing together the colours, atmosphere and character of this beautiful island setting.

The exhibition is part of the ongoing partnership between Creative Connections Whitsundays and Bendigo Community Bank Cannonvale–Proserpine, providing local artists with an opportunity to exhibit their work in a community setting.
All artworks in the Community Creative Space are available for purchase through a simple self-service process, giving visitors the opportunity to directly support local artists.
The exhibition is free to visit during Bendigo Community Bank Cannonvale–Proserpine branch opening hours, with everyone welcome to drop in and enjoy another outstanding showcase of Whitsunday creativity.
