There's a fresh burst of creativity at the Community Art Gallery in Proserpine this October, and we can't wait to share it with you!

Our latest Gallery changeover has brought a wonderful mix of new artists, fresh works from familiar favourites and plenty of surprises.

With everything from stunning underwater photography and colourful paintings to handcrafted glass art and unique gifts, there's never been a better time to visit.

Discover What's New on the Walls

A glimpse beneath the Whitsundays

Photographer Tony Ayling takes us beneath the surface with a stunning collection of underwater images captured during his diving expeditions. Showcasing the extraordinary marine life of the Whitsundays, his photographs offer a fascinating glimpse into the colourful world beneath our beautiful waters.

Fresh colour and creativity

There's plenty of colour to brighten your day, with Suzanne Baker exhibiting a delightful collection of small acrylic and oil paintings. These beautiful little works are perfect for anyone looking to bring a splash of colour into their home.

We're delighted to welcome Dawn Byrne to the Gallery this month. It's always exciting to introduce new artists alongside our established members, and we love seeing the different styles and creative approaches they bring to our walls.

The beauty of handcrafted glass

Our talented glass artists Liz Knight and Libby Humphrey have introduced new leadlight pieces to the Gallery. These handcrafted works are a lovely reminder that art comes in many forms, and there's something particularly special about the way coloured glass catches the light.

The $100 Art Wall Is Here Until Christmas!

Looking for something original, meaningful and affordable?

Following the wonderful response to our $100 Collection fundraiser, we're keeping our $100 Art Wall going right through to Christmas!

Small Artworks Wall

There's still a fantastic variety of original small artworks to choose from, created by talented local artists in a range of styles and subjects.

Whether you're looking for a special Christmas gift, a little artwork for your own home or something for that person who has everything, an original piece of art is a gift that lasts.

And at just $100, owning original art might be more affordable than you think!

Christmas Shopping with a Creative Twist

If you'd like to find something a little different this Christmas, the Gallery is a great place to start.

We're particularly excited about our uniquely Whitsundays-themed Christmas cards from Made by Leah!

We've also been growing our range of handcrafted gifts and creative supplies, including:

  • The Wet Box, a stay-wet palette for acrylic artists

  • Handmade ceramic paintbrush holders and ink/paint wells

  • Beautiful hand-covered journals

  • An expanding collection of greeting cards and gift cards

Whether you're shopping for an artist, an art lover or simply someone who appreciates something handmade, you'll find plenty of inspiration.

And every purchase helps support our local artists and the ongoing development of our community Gallery.

Getting Creative at the Gallery

We're also starting to introduce small creative workshops, giving visitors the opportunity to do more than admire the art on the walls.

Debbie Stephens is introducing small-group pastel workshops on Saturday mornings, offering a lovely opportunity to explore this beautiful medium in a relaxed, friendly setting.

It's an exciting first step as we work towards developing a broader workshop program at the Gallery.

Keep an eye on our website and social media for workshop details and bookings.

There's Always Something New to Discover

One of the things we love most about the Community Art Gallery is that it's constantly changing. Each new display brings different artists, fresh ideas and new reasons to visit.

You don't need to be an art collector or know anything about art to enjoy the Gallery. Come in for a browse, discover the talent we have right here in the Whitsundays, and perhaps find something you simply can't leave behind!

We're open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm, and Saturday, 9am to 1pm.

You'll find us at the Community Art Gallery, next to the Proserpine Museum.

Pop in, bring a friend and see what's new. We'd love to welcome you!
