A fantastic, full-on couple of months of work by the amazing Creative Connections Whitsunday Team brought together a 4-day weekend Art Exhibition full of magic and wonder.

Flyers were printed. Thank you, Amanda Cam’s office, for your support. Super appreciated! Flyers were posted throughout the Whitsunday region. Burdekin to Sarina and the mining towns received social media posts regularly. The Whitsunday Life printed a fabulous story. The Great Barrier Reef Festival listed the Art Exhibition in their daily list of events.

The Art Exhibition was held in Beach Plaza. Thanks, PRD Whitsunday, for the venue. A fabulous venue right in the heart of all the action resulted in over 1300 people visiting the exhibition.
1100 plus people voting in the People’s Choice Award had us frequently scolded with, “That was hard work. I wanted to vote for so many artworks. They are all so good!”
“Fabulous, aren’t they?
“Absolutely”
“Do you know all artworks are local artists?”
“Local? Wow! So much talent!”

The first artwork sold on the morning of the first day, not long after opening. Just as well he purchased “A Mothers Love” by Bowen artist Melissa Stone when he did, as it could have sold many times over. Friday saw a frenzy of 6 sales, with a couple of pieces finding their new home in Sydney. Saturday gave us another 3 sales. That’s a whopping 21% of artworks sold. Happy, Happy Dance!
The raffle worth $1124 was a hit and greatly so by the winners.

The winning couple, Franki and Murray, brought the raffle tickets because the ceramics from Pink Tank Studio had caught Franki’s eye. The hand-finished print of the Whitsundays from True Heart Connections will forever remind them their 20th anniversary ended up way better than anticipated.
The raffle also enabled them to enjoy a “Seafood Platter for 2” from Fish D’vine on Sunday night. Breakfast at Fat Frog Café, Monday morning, where they bumped into a boss from 20 years ago. Then they travelled to Proserpine and spoilt themselves with goodies from Proserpine Pharmacy, Woolworths, Healthy Haven, and Colour Me Crazy. That leaves the bottle of champagne they will enjoy on their wedding anniversary day.

Whew….. so much excitement!
But wait, there is more to come.
When we phoned Melissa Stone and let her know she had sold her artwork and won the “People Choice Award,” which included a $200 Gift Voucher from Coral Sea Marina/Resort, Melissa, who rarely cries, was so humbled she was close to tears.

So humbled at the vast array of images that sprung from "The Grandeur of the Humpback Whale", an intimate underwater painting of a Mother & Baby enjoying tranquillity, through to an aerial view of a 3d coastline and whales.
And the standard of local art, wow
